After 8 years one of the worlds greatest golfing events returns to Sandwich Kent on the 14th-17th July 2011. Royal St Georges Golf Club will host the The Open for the 14th time, the first was back in 1894.
In October 1860, when eight men played three rounds over the 12 hole course at the Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Golfs oldest national championship was formed. The event was declared 'open to the world' the following year and has been known as the Open Championship ever since.
